Yoga Sutras

Here is the collection of posts on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.   As I dive deeper into my physical practice, I’ve found myself more intrigued by the philosophical aspects and practices of yoga and have dedicated Sundays’ post to the sutras in an attempt to learn them (in no particular order) as they appear in my life.  The Sutras are essentially 196 aphorisms/verses that are divided into four main chapters which are called Padas.  There are many books and writings on the Sutras and I refer to these versions:

1. The Wisdom of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, A New Translation and Guide by Ravi Ravindra

2. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Illuminations Through Image, Commentary, and Design by Gary Kissiah

3. The Secret Power of Yoga:  A Woman’s Guide to the Heart and Spirit of the Yoga Sutras by Nischala Joy Devi
