Yoga Graffiti

What is Yoga Graffiti?

Yoga Graffiti does not involve spray painting yoga poses on walls.  It’s a spontaneous stike of a pose in a fun and usually unexpected place to do yoga.  In 2010 I was inspired by Cora Wen’s Sirsa Graffiti. Although not as crazy as Cora’s, I also love to tag places I go with my yoga.  I did a whole fundraising effort to support Africa Yoga Project through a yoga graffiti photo contest. Thanks for sharing these, Nikki. I posted your Yoga Graffiti link on our FB fan page this morning and they inspired my friend to share one of her pics with me. Check it out on my front page.

I just checked out your webpage and notice you teach at Breathe! Ironic because I crossed that site the other day when I was scoping out Santa Cruz area for classes to join while I’m on vacation next month. The Flying Lotus Yoga looks like fun!!

    Namaste, Mari Jo

  2. Do…graffiti? « Ashley Turney - March 25, 2011

[...] Around our town, I have noticed on every possible surface-covering the words “Do Yoga” in spray paint.  Graffiti.  Eyesore.  Disrespect.  Not beautiful murals, or edgy wall coverings.  Good old-fashioned, green spray paint.  I tried to look at this from another perspective.  Maybe this is art.  Maybe it is advertising (though an extremely poor form) or perhaps it is nothing!  After googling and talking to some local police officers, I learned this “Yoga Graffiti” is just that: graffiti.  The concept behind the “Do Yoga” movement and the affiliation with graffiti is to entice people to actually…DO YOGA.  Especially in public places, and then take photos.  An entire blog has been constructed in this honor.  You can check it out here: http://liveloveyoga.wordpress.com/yoga-graffiti/ [...]
