I Get to

23 Feb

Last night I was complaining about how tired I was and how many things I didn’t get done yesterday.  The hubby blurted out, “shut up! you get to go to work in sweat pants.”  Before I could defend my lulus, I laughed and remembered yet another ah-ha moment I had at advanced vinyasa teacher trainingI GET TO…

Consider how you show up for your day when your alarm goes off.  What’s the first thought that runs thru your head?  “Ugh.. I have to get up for work.  I have to get the kids ready for school.  I have to do this.  I have to do that.  I have to, have to, have to.”  How does that leave you feeling for the rest of the day?

When I doubled my teaching schedule, I started to say “I have to teach another class” when my buzzard went off at 5am.  Needless to say, I started to feel like teaching was a J-O-B… something that I never wanted to feel because I love this yoga stuff.

No doubt life throws us all sorts of challenges and there are things that we need to do, but how we show up for it makes a big difference.  I’m not trying to be a cheesy cheerleader for positivity (it helps though) but try to change one word in your vocabulary from “HAVE to” to “GET to” and notice an immediate shift in your way of being.

What do you get to do today?

I get to teach 9 yoga classes this week as I am subbing three additional ones for someone else. I was feeling kind of burnt from it all, but you just reminded me of how lucky I am. I taught 9 totally different classes: different students, diff themes, diff sequences and had 9 totally different experiences. That is really really living lady! Thanks so much for reminding me to think that way.

  4. AMAZING POST..i was feeling the same way this morning, I get to go to work today to a job that is creative and produces smiles. i get to see my friends this afternoon and catch up

It’s feel great to say I get to set up my division’s website instead of I have to… I really enjoyed doing it and can’t wait to see it go live!

    Namaste,
    Karin

Learn about the products manufactured by my employer and share the knowlege with my co-worker. Together we get to learn more and share it with others.

Ah, I definitely needed to read this today! Thank you!
Today I got to teach a yoga class and a hoop class. And I got to meet with our printer who needs to take a time out, which in perspective is a blessing because we get to work on our wholesale packaging! :) Tomorrow I get to take a yoga class for me. yay!

This is exactly what I mentally (ok sometimes outloud) say to myself on my carride into work and school! I get to have the opportunity to learn and earn money, etc…It’s a great way to look at things. I can’t remember where I heard it, but since then it’s been a mantra that helps keep my head in the right place! Thanks Nikki and I love that photo, it’s beautiful.
Today I got to have a day off where I got to clean my floors and catch up on laundry and I got to practice yoga with you on itunes =D
Oh, and Lulus are not sweatpants ;)

This blog came just in time. I was feeling exhausted and cranky from a long week. I am now going to work with the attitude that I get to do what I am good at surrounded by people I like (at least most of the people minus a few rotten apples).
    Thanks.
